WMRN Career

Karl L. Livensparger was a Marion high-school senior undergoing training at WMRN in May 1943 as a replacement for station engineer Joe Peters, who had been called for military service. The contemporaneous Broadcast Engineers' Journal names the trainee 'Karl Liven-sparger' across a line break and names Robert Morrison as WMRN's chief engineer. Independent Marion family history identifies the corresponding man as Karl Lewis Livensparger (1925–2011), later an Army Signal Corps engineer and telephone executive. The period of his WMRN engineering employment remains unknown beyond the documented wartime training.
