Dennis Garrigan worked in the newsroom at WMRN-AM 1490 in Marion, Ohio, as both a reporter and news director. During WMRN's December 21, 2007, 67th-anniversary broadcast, former news director Mary Ann Michaels recalled working with Garrigan and fellow reporter Claire Campbell on local election coverage, including long nights gathering results and preparing stories. A surviving WMRN recording, “Gravity Wins: Charlie Evers Falls from His Chair During the Closings & Delays,” identifies Garrigan as the station's news director and preserves an unscripted on-air exchange between Garrigan and Charlie Evers during school-closing announcements. Garrigan was also a participant in WWGH's May 27, 2020, tribute to Evers. His precise dates of WMRN service have not yet been verified.
