WMRN Career
Bob Miller was a WMRN news and sports director and sports play-by-play broadcaster. A contemporary January 25, 1971 issue of Broadcasting identifies Robert C. Miller as news and sports director for WMRN-AM/FM in Marion and WOHI-AM in East Liverpool and reports his move to WHIZ-AM/FM/TV in Zanesville. This appears to be the same Bob Miller recalled in WMRN's December 21, 2007 67th-anniversary broadcast: a colleague remembered Bob Miller serving as news and sports director before Roger Fischer was hired as sports director. A first-person account of 1961 WMRN school basketball broadcasts also mentions Bob Miller's local sports coverage. The contemporaneous report supports a 1971 departure, but exact hiring and intermediate appointment dates remain undetermined.
