Newspaper clipping. WMRN-2026-056.

Marion Station Goes on Air Today Clipping (WMRN-2026-056) is a launch-era newspaper
clipping associated with WMRN's first day of regular broadcasting, preserved within
the Founding of WMRN Collection. Dated 1940, the item documents the start of WMRN's
regular broadcast service after Federal Communications Commission approval arrived.
The clipping states that radio station WMRN's first regular broadcast began at 1:
15 p.m. and records the station's early operating schedule, making it one of the
clearest documentary references to the station's on-air beginning.

### Historical Significance

This clipping provides direct evidence of WMRN's first regular broadcast and helps
anchor the chronology of the station's launch in Marion, Ohio. As a contemporary
newspaper account, it preserves both the station's transition from approval to operation
and the public announcement of WMRN's initial broadcast schedule.
