Description

This collection of photographs documents Buckeye Chuck during various Groundhog Day celebrations held in Marion, Ohio. The images show the groundhog inside the ceremonial enclosure, as well as members of the public gathered to watch the annual prediction event.

Buckeye Chuck has been recognized as Ohio’s official weather-predicting groundhog since 1979, and the event has been closely associated with WMRN Radio’s live coverage and promotion of the tradition.

The photographs capture both the ceremonial aspects of the event and the strong public attendance that has made the Marion celebration a long-standing community tradition. Together, the images illustrate the continued cultural significance of Groundhog Day in Marion and WMRN’s role in documenting and broadcasting the event.
