Access & Use Policy

The WMRN Radio History Archive is committed to preserving, documenting, and providing responsible access to historical materials related to WMRN (AM 1490) and WMRN-FM in Marion, Ohio.

This policy outlines how materials may be accessed, used, and referenced by researchers, educators, contributors, and the general public.


Access Levels

Materials within the archive are described at the accession level and may be assigned one of the following access designations.

Open Access

Materials designated as Open Access may be viewed freely online and may be used for personal research, educational, or non-commercial purposes, subject to the conditions outlined below.

Restricted Access

Materials designated as Restricted are not publicly accessible. Restrictions may apply for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Donor agreements or conditions
  • Privacy or sensitivity concerns
  • Physical preservation limitations
  • Copyright or rights uncertainty
  • Ongoing cataloging or processing

Restricted materials may exist in digital or physical form. Listing an item in the archive does not imply public availability.


Use of Materials

Unless otherwise noted, materials in the WMRN Radio History Archive may be used under the following conditions:

  • For personal research, educational, or historical reference purposes
  • Without alteration that misrepresents the original content or context
  • With appropriate credit to the WMRN Radio History Archive

Commercial use, publication, broadcast, redistribution, or derivative use requires prior permission.


The WMRN Radio History Archive does not claim ownership of all intellectual property represented within its holdings.

Rights may remain with:

  • Original creators
  • Contributors or donors
  • Estates or third parties

Responsibility for determining copyright status rests with the user. The archive provides materials for historical reference but cannot guarantee rights clearance.


Citation and Attribution

When referencing materials from the archive, users are encouraged to cite them clearly and accurately.

Where possible, include:

Requests for Access or Permission
