Host of Evers in the Morning on WMRN
Buckeye Chuck's day in the sun (or shadow) is going to be here Wednesday. In a little burrow in the woods next to WMRN, you will find Buckeye Chuck curled into a ball with a body temperature so low it barely keeps him alive. Chuck, along with all the other groundhogs, have been doing this winter time trick since time began. The secret, of course, is in the amount of food you put into your tummy before lying down. Without a good supply of fat, the winter would be too much to bear. As the ground warms, sensors start to react in Chuck's body, alerting him to end his winter sleep program.
I have no idea how cold it will be Wednesday morning. It hardly matters because dozens of us will be there at sunrise to see if Buckeye Chuck chooses to emerge and whether he sees his shadow or not.
You will want to stop by WMRN and share in the fun. We will be serving hot SPAM sandwiches cooked by Marion's first lady, Saundra Kellogg. There will also be coffee and other treats available, and most importantly, an attitude of fun.
I will broadcast the occasion from 7:30-8:30 a.m., Wednesday morning. A number of well-known Marion Countians will be there, including of course, the Mayor and Commissioners.
